Rip that List

Earlier this week, I watched a sermon by Pastor Mike Todd about ripping the lists that we create. These lists can consist of everything we want in our partners, what we want to by a certain date, and just other things we want. Pastor Todd definitely had to remind me that we serve a God that provides our needs rather than satisfying our wants. It’s funny we make these lists without even knowing who we are, who we are called to be and everything or everyone we are called to touch. We make these lists blindly and expect the Lord to adhere to our inaccurate depictions that lack the synthesis of our destinies. Our Maker is more committed to our destinies than our desires. I mean why wouldn’t He be. Yahweh sees the potential of the greatness resting in us and will take us to the place we are called to reign over if we would only let Him.
Now with saying that, I’m not saying our lives are going to be bland and lackluster. It’s actually the opposite. Kings and Queens get nothing but the best. In Jeremiah 17 we are made to understand that our hearts are deceitful. We have to understand that the wants and desires of our hearts are led by the wants and desires of our flesh. With being led by flesh, we are being led to destruction. Our fabricated expectations with our failed realities lead us only to frustration. The King of kings has a path for us to avoid all of that negativity.
The Ultimate Creator knowing our heart’s desire and also being able to see the bigger picture that we can not, targets preparing us for our prosperity. He makes sure that we are building the communication skills or the discipline we’ll need to be in the positions He has called us to. The needs that Jehovah provides us with guides us to the place we are destined for. You see our finite minds limit the process we need to endure in order to be fully equipped for whatever battle may lay ahead. We forget the Captain of Israel’s Host doesn’t want us unguarded and unprepared for combat we are bound to encounter.
In developing each and every one of us, we get taken to places we would have never expect to go. Most of the time it’s uncomfortable, it’s new, and it’s different but how can we grow and learn in familiar environments. When looking back at how I ended up in the school I’m attending, the journey there amazes me . I had a dream school that I thought I was perfect for, I knew where I wanted to live and was confident I had everything the school was looking for; a bomb gpa, a beautiful resume, and an unique essay. When I got rejected I was devastated and confused. I was so tunnel visioned I didn’t even think any other school could compare. However now having no other choice but to look at other schools, I remembered an acceptance from a school I applied to on a whim. Surprisingly giving me the most money I thought to attend and just the Lord take control. Who would know 3 years later I would be blessed beyond measure with amazing positions, opportunities and the love of my life. I can’t even picture myself at another school and I’m so grateful for the processes the Lord has taken me through during these past couple of years. Little did I know that betrayal wasn’t meant to break me but to take me to the place I was supposed to be.
Sometimes God pushes us into a corner which forces us to rip our lists. Not knowing that being open to the doors the Almighty has lined up for us would be the best thing we could ever ask for. A lot of the time the path the Lord has for us is something we wouldn’t expect. The path we take with God is hardly ever straight or easy. We have to go through it and get challenged. Although it gets hard, always look for God’s favor in our places of darkness. Understand His Spirit is always with us and in us so we are never alone. The Lord will not take you through anything you can not handle. We need to remember faithfully serving in each process we go through leads us to the success we’ve been waiting for. All we have to do is rip up our misguided expectations and let the Lord’s will guide us. In this halted time, get reacquainted with the Lord and adhere to where He is taking you. Stop trying to force the God of the Universe to where you want to go and let the All Knowing guide you to where you need to be.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 KJV
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
